Longwood ended the game on a 14-0 run to upset Liberty, 58-51.

The Flames led the game 51-44 with just over 3 minutes left after Georgie Pacheco-Ortiz made a 3-pointer. It was the last points Liberty would score.

“It wasn’t the last 2-3 minutes,” Coach McKay said of the loss, “It was about the last 28 minutes. We had the disposition where we felt that we could show up and a win a Division I college basketball game, and that’s on me, that’s my responsibility. We’re not going to give an effort like that again. That’s taking nothing away from Longwood, they were terrific. No excuses. I don’t want to hear about we were sick. I don’t want to hear about this guy not playing, none of that. We didn’t deserve victory. That’s what happens when you take things for granted.”

Caleb Homesley didn’t play, as he was a late scratch. He missed the end of the Winthrop game Tuesday night with what appeared to be a tweaked left knee.

7 different Flames scored between 3 and 10 points, led by Lovell Cabil’s 10 points. Cabbil also added 5 rebounds. \

Liberty returns to action Monday night at Radford who is 4-1 in Big South play after falling to Gardner-Webb Friday night.
