On Saturday, the Flames will play in one of college football’s most hostile environments at Lane Stadium. Virginia Tech has called Lane Stadium home for more than 50 years now, and they sport a .716 winning percentage against non-conference teams at the stadium.
Saturday could also be the largest attended game Liberty football has ever played in front of. Currently, the top all-time attended game in school history was on September 5, 2009 against West Virginia where 57,950 fans attended the game. Lane Stadium has a seating capacity of 66,233. In 2015, Tech’s average home attendance was 60,823, and 5 of their 6 home games had attendance of more than 60,000.
Also, be prepared for one of the best entrances in all of college football as the Hokies take the field as Metallica’s Enter Sandman plays and the entire crowd starts jumping.
I’ve had the privelege of attending games at both Michigan Stadium (Ann Arbor) and
Doak Campbell Statidum (Tallahassee) and I’m preety sure these stadiums could give
Lane a run for the money in noise level.
