Dear Santa,
Liberty sports fans haven’t had the best year in 2015. The football team came up short of lofty expectations, and we’re currently struggling through what will be a very long basketball season. Even our normally dominant cross country teams came up short. With that being said, there are a few things we would like for Christmas this year.
- Patience for basketball fans. We knew it was going to take a while to get it turned around, but it’s still agonizing going through this.
- Pepto Bismol for Coach McKay. He’s already lost more in his first 13 games back at Liberty than he did in his last 13 months at Virginia. It has to be painful.
- A Division I win…or 3.
- Noise-cancelling headphones for Coach Gill. Sure, the 2015 season was a disappointment, but those wanting him fired just one year after him guiding us to the FCS playoffs for the first time in school history is a little much.
- Speaking of the playoffs, another playoff appearance in 2016 would be swell.
- Could you see to it that Coastal flops in the Sun Belt?
- Speaking of the Sun Belt, well…nevermind…
- A new job for Charleston Southern’s football coach Jamey Chadwell. With Coastal and Chadwell gone, the Big South auto-bid would have Liberty’s name etched into it.
I also have some suggestions.
There is someone you need to add to your nice list:
Women’s field hockey coach Jodi Murphy. What she has been able to do with that program in such a short time is amazing. Oh and thanks for the early Christmas present of the Big East for the field hockey team!
And, unfortunately, there are a couple people who need to go on your naughty list:
Kyle Kallander.
Joe Moglia.
Santa, I know this may seem like a lot, but we have been good fans this year. We have stuck with our teams in the good and bad times. We have celebrated the wins and agonized over the defeats. A little holiday cheer shouldn’t be too much to ask.
Thanks for everything Santa.
Sincerely,
Flames Nation
