Liberty has picked up a commitment from Auburn transfer defensive end Brenton Williams. He has four years of eligibility remaining.
The 6’3′”, 262 pound Williams is from Opelika, Alabama. The former three-star recruit played in two games as a true freshman in 2023 for the Tigers before redshirting. Since entering the portal, Williams has picked up offers from Liberty, West Virginia, and FAU.
Coming out of high school Williams held offers from Coastal Carolina, Georgia Tech, Jacksonville State, Kansas, Memphis, Michigan State, Missouri, Penn State, Troy, Tulane, UAB, Southern Miss, and a few others.
Williams was one of the first commits for Auburn under new head coach and former Liberty head coach Hugh Freeze. He signed with the Tigers on Dec. 21, 2022 and was an early enrollee, joining Auburn in the spring of 2023.
Williams would most likely play at the Joker position for Liberty where CJ Bazile is a returning starter. Williams can certainly help add depth for the Flames alongside Bryson Jennings.
