Liberty has picked up a commitment from former Appalachian State defensive tackle Markus Clark. He has two years of eligibility remaining.
Clark is a 6’1″, 295 pound defensive lineman who picked up offers from Toledo, Arkansas State, and others since entering the portal.
He played in two games in 2024 for the Mountaineers, recording five tackles, one tackle for loss, and one forced fumble. In 2023, Clark appeared in 11 games, starting the first eight at defensive tackle for App State. He had 21 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and one sack on the season. In 2022, Clark appeared in nine games as a true freshman as he recorded five tackles, one tackle for loss, and one forced fumble.
Markus followed his older brother, Markell, who previously played his college ball on the defensive line at Appalachian State.
Clark is originally from Hoover, Alabama and Hoover High School. He helped Hoover go 33-6 with 3 State semifinal appearances in his final three years of high school including 12-1 during his senior year. He had 10 tackles for loss and 2 sacks while ranking as the 5th best interior defensive lineman in Alabama in his final season. As a junior at Hoover, Clark had 31 tackles with 5 sacks 3 forced fumbles and 2 fumble recoveries on an 11-2 team that also made the state semifinals.
Clark joins NC State transfer DJ Jackson as two defensive lineman to commit to Liberty through the portal this off-season.
