Liberty picked up a commitment from Mississippi State transfer Mikey Tepper, he announced on Saturday. Tepper, who played his high school ball at Fort Mill High School in South Carolina is 6’2″ and 190 pounds. The right-handed pitcher spent two seasons at Mississippi State before entering the transfer portal in late May. He has two years of eligibility remaining.
During his true freshman season with the Bulldogs, Tepper made 11 appearances with two starts as he was part of the 2021 National Championship team. He posted a 5.25 ERA and 2-0 record in 12 innings while allowing 7 earned runs on eight hits, striking out 14 and walking 9. He held opposing hitters to a .174 average.
This past spring, Tepper made 17 appearances for Mississippi State, two of them being starts. He was 1-2 with a 9.49 ERA in 24.2 innings pitched. He struck out 29 and walked 24.
Coming out of high school, Tepper was a 2nd-team Preseason All-American by Perfect Game as a senior where he was ranked the 98th best prospect in the Class of 2020. He chose Mississippi State over offers from UCF, Florida, NC State, North Carolina, Wake Forest, and Furman.
