Liberty head coach Hugh Freeze has added Sean Tuohy, Jr. to his staff as assistant AD – football operations, as reported by Football Scoop. This name may be familiar to Liberty fans and ASOR Club members as we first alluded to this hiring in our Rumor Mill in late December.
Tuohy was an assistant director of football operations the past two seasons at Arkansas under Chad Morris, who was fired near the end of the 2019 season. Tuohy graduated from Loyola University in Baltimore before he played for Chad Morris at SMU. He then coached at SMU before leaving for Arkansas with Morris.
Tuohy and his family were portrayed in the movie The Blindside as his family adopted Michael Oher, who went on to play for Ole Miss.
Additionally, we can confirm reports of Chief of Staff Jim Nichols being promoted to vice president of University and Athletic Development. Nichols joined Freeze’s staff this past season as his Chief of Staff. Darry Marshall, who was on staff this past season under Freeze as defensive quality control, is being promoted to the Chief of Staff role to replace Nichols.
