On Tuesday, Liberty announced its complete 2020-21 men’s basketball schedule. The Flames will open the season on Nov. 25 against Purdue in the Space Coast Challenge. The Flames will then either play Clemson or Mississippi State on Nov. 26 in games that will be played in Melbourne, Florida.
Liberty will stay on the road to begin the season, facing Siena on Nov. 30 in the Bubbleville, hosted by the Naismith Hall of Fame at the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Connecticut.
Liberty’s first game at the brand new Liberty Arena is scheduled for Dec. 3 when the Flames host Saint Francis (PA), the first of seven home games during the non-conference slate. LU plays host to Bluefield College on Dec. 5 before hitting the road to play at Missouri on Dec. 9. The Tigers will be the third Power Five school Liberty is scheduled to play during the non-conference.
Following the brief road trip to play the SEC opponent, Liberty returns home for five straight home games at Liberty Arena. The Flames will face Carolina University (Dec. 12), South Carolina State (Dec. 15), Regent (Dec. 17), UVA Wise (Dec. 19), and Alcorn State (Dec. 22).
Liberty Arena will operate at approximately 17% capacity under current ASUN, NCAA, and state of Virginia regulations for the start of the season. That means approximately 600 guests will be in attendance for each game to begin the season which includes students, Flames Club Members, parents and families of student-athletes and coaches, visiting team, and sponsors.
Liberty begins ASUN conference play on Jan. 1 at Lipscomb.
