Liberty class of 2023 commit Colin Porter is reclassifying to the class of 2022. This will allow him to sign with the Flames this coming spring and enroll at Liberty for the 2022-23 season.
Porter is a 5’11” guard from Ashland, Kentucky where he attends Paul G. Blazer High School. He committed to Liberty in early October over offers from Marshall, Akron, Morehead State, Lipscomb, Western Kentucky, Western Carolina, and Radford.
Porter will join a class of 2022 that currently includes 6’8″ forward Zach Cleveland and 6’7″ forward Ben Southerland. Last year as a sophomore in high school, Porter averaged 16.7 points, 4.0 rebounds, 6.9 assists, and 2.0 steals per game. He has started for his varsity team as a freshman and a sophomore. He helped lead his AAU 17U team to the Adidas 3SSB Championship game this past summer.
Cleveland and Southerland signed with the Flames in November and with Porter joining them for this class, Liberty currently has a full roster of 13 scholarship players. This assumes that both seniors, Darius McGhee and Keegan McDowell, elect to pursue professional opportunities following this season and don’t utilize their COVID shirt
