This week Joe Lurnadi moved the Flames back up to an 11 seed. This is the second time he has had LU on the 11 seed line. This time he has the Flames in Omaha matched up with 6 seed Marquette. If the Flames were to win they would likely face 3 seed Baylor in this bracket. Here is the full bracket breakdown.
According to Bracket Matrix, Liberty is currently being projected as a 12-seed with the highest projection currently coming in as a 9-seed.
We reported earlier that LU comes in at #19 in the new NET rankings, this is something that will be used by the selection committee to help select seeds in March. The NET is a little different than the RPI which the committee used in the past. The NET is both results oriented and a predictive analytic. Last year 14 of the Sweet 16 teams were ranked in the top 16 teams. If the Flames are able to finish the season in the top 25 in NET rankings, it would go a long way towards helping Liberty have a much better seed than last year’s 12-seed the Flames earned.
Liberty will put its 12-0 perfect mark on the line this weekend in the DC Holiday Hoops Fest Tournament with the team’s first game Friday night against Towson.
