Liberty standout defensive end TJ Bush has announced his intentions to enter the transfer portal when it officially opens on Wednesday. In two seasons at Liberty, Bush totaled 90 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, and 9 pass breakups. He received freshman All-American and CUSA All-Freshman team honors.
“As I reflect on my two years at Liberty University, I am filled with immense gratitude for the experiences, growth, and relationships I’ve gained along the way,” Bush said in an announcement he made on social media. “From day one, the campus atmosphere has been one of love, support, and encouragement, which has played a significant role in my development both on and off the field.”
Bush was one of the first commitments out of high school to sign with Liberty new head coach Jamey Chadwell after he was named to the position following the 2022 football season. Bush made an immediate impact, starting all 14 games as a true freshman at defensive end. he finished the year with 32 tackles and ranked third on the team with 7 tackles for loss while also recording two sacks. Bush continued his stellar play in 2024, his sophomore season. He finished with 58 tackles, 4 pass breakups, and 5.5 sacks.
