We’re still over 3 months away from college football starting, but odds-makers have already released lines for some of the week one and top 2023 games. Week one lines have been posted by Bet Online, and Liberty is an early 11.5-point favorite over Bowling Green in the season opener.
The Falcons are coming off a 6-7 season and 5-3 record in MAC action. They played in the Quick Lane Bowl where they lost to New Mexico State, 24-19. Bowling Green defeated Toledo, 42-35, on Nov. 15. The Flames lost the Rockets, 21-19, in the 2022 Boca Raton Bowl.
This will be the second ever meeting between the two programs, with Liberty getting blasted by Bowling Green, 62-3, on Sept. 13, 2003 in Bowling Green, Ohio. Of course, a lot has changed since that game 20 years ago, most notably the Flames are now at the same level of the Falcons as FBS members.
This year’s game will be the season opener for both teams and will be played on Sept. 2, 2023 in Lynchburg, Virginia. No time has been announced for the game to this point.
Jamey Chadwell will be making his debut as Liberty’s head coach after he was announced to the position this past December. The Flames will be looking to get back to a fifth straight bowl game in 2023 while also being first year Conference USA members.
