On Monday, Liberty Athletic Director Ian McCaw announced a new bowl agreement with ESPN.
During the 2020-2025 bowl cycle, ESPN Events could place the Flames in one of at least six bowl games: Boca Raton Bowl (Boca Raton, FL), Camellia Bowl (Montgomery, AL), Famous Idaho Potato Bowl (Boise, ID), Tropical Smoothie Cafe Frisco Bowl (Frisco, TX), Myrtle Beach Bowl (Conway, SC), and the New Mexico Bowl (Albuquerque, NM).
“There are some great bowl games, great destinations for our football program,” McCaw stated. “We feel over the last 2 and a half years, Liberty is the fastest growing program in America and this is just another huge step forward for us to be able to secure this bowl agreement with ESPN.”
Shortly after announcing the move to FBS as an Independent, Liberty also announced a secondary bowl agreement with the AutoNation Cure Bowl for 2018 and 2019. This new agreement for 2020-25 will give the Flames much more possibilities for postseason play provided Liberty becomes bowl eligible. This list of six bowl games could grow to more in the future.
