Update: Liberty big man Kai Yu has entered the transfer portal, he announced via his Instagram profile.
The 7’0″ center is originally from China and played high school ball at Link Year Prep. In 2023-24, he redshirted at Liberty and did not play. This past season, Yu played in 15 games, averaging 3.1 minutes, 1.5 points, and 1.1 rebounds per game while shooting 5 of 9 from the field and 13 of 21 from the free throw line.
Update: Liberty forward Will Gibson has entered the transfer portal.
Gibson is a 6’6″ forward from Louisville, Kentucky who was a true freshman this past season for the Flames. Gibson was originally going to redshirt this past season, but, after Isaiah Ihnen’s injury, Gibson was inserted into the lineup for the first time on January 9 against Sam Houston. He played three minutes in that game and ended up playing in a total of four games for the Flames this season, including Friday night’s First Round NCAA Tournament game against Oregon in which Gibson played three minutes and recorded one rebound. In his four games played, Gibson scored 2 points on 1 of 4 shooting with 3 rebounds while playing in 8 minutes.

Liberty forward Bryson Spell has entered the transfer portal.
Spell is a 6’9″ forward who has spent the past four seasons at Liberty. He has played in 48 games while averaging 0.8 points and 0.9 rebounds in 4.5 minutes per game during his Liberty career. This past season, Spell played in 13 games while shooting 7 of 10 from the field and 3 of 4 from t here. H e finished with 17 points and 14 rebounds.
Spell originally committed to Cincinnati while in high school before changing his pledge to the Flames. Playing for Cape Henry Collegiate School in Virginia Beach, Spell averaged 20 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 blocks in his final season while leading Cape Henry to an undefeated season and state championship.
