Liberty’s fall sports are officially underway all over campus, and we will provide weekly updates on all of the teams throughout the semester.
CROSS COUNTRY
The cross country team begins competition on Friday, August 30 in the Liberty Challenge in Lynchburg, Virginia.
FIELD HOCKEY
The Lady Flames will open the season with two games in Kent, Ohio this weekend. LU plays Indiana at noon on Saturday and then against Kent State at 1 p.m. Sunday.
WOMEN’S SOCCER (4-0, 0-0 CUSA)
Coming off arguably the program’s best season in program history, the Lady Flames’ soccer team is currently 4-0 on the season. Liberty opened the year with a 3-1 win at High Point on August 15, followed by a 2-0 shutout win in the home opener against Old Dominion on August 18. Liberty then dispatched VCU on August 22, 2-1, and ETSU, 3-1, on August 25.
The Lady Flames are back in action this week hosting future CUSA member Delaware on Friday night at 6 p.m. and then hosting Longwood on Sunday at 6 p.m.
MEN’S SOCCER (1-0-1, 0-0 OVC)
The men’s soccer team opened the season with a 4-0 shutout victory over Mt. Olive on August 22. This past Tuesday night, the Flames traveled to Farmville, playing Longwood to a 2-2 tie. The Flames are back in action on Sunday, playing host to Georgia State at 2 p.m.
VOLLEYBALL
Under acting head coach Nolan Albrecht, the Liberty volleyball gets their season underway this weekend in Puerto Rico where the Flames take on Iowa on Friday at 4 p.m. and Akron on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
