That would put Liberty at 8-2 and riding an 8 game winning streak. The website then projects the Flames to lose to Virginia (20-33) before finishing the regular season with a win against New Mexico State (36-18) to finish with a final record of 9-3.
Liberty’s remaining opponents enter this weekend with a combined record of 10-26, only the Cavaliers have a winning record as they currently sit at 4-2.
ESPN’s FPI gives Liberty better than a 59% chance to beat Maine, Rutgers, UMass, and New Mexico State, and just an 11.1% chance to beat BYU and an 8.1% chance to defeat Virginia. If the Flames were to win each of the games it’s supposed to according to this metric, Liberty would finish the regular season 8-4.
Another popular projection website, TeamRankings, has similar projections to ESPN, giving the Flames greater than a 65% chance to beat Maine, Rutgers, UMass, and New Mexico State. This projection gives Liberty a 14.5% chance at beating BYU and a 5.6% chance at beating Virginia. This website gives Liberty a 98.3% chance at becoming bowl eligible and a 54.9% chance at winning at least 8 games.
