This page will track which Liberty players enter the transfer portal and which players in the portal decide to transfer to the Flames. It will be updated for each addition to either category.

APRIL PORTAL PERIOD:

TRANSFERRING TO LIBERTY

5/24/24: OL Jordan Hall (Monmouth)

Hall is a 6’4″, 310 pound offensive lineman who was slated to start at left tackle for FCS Monmouth this coming season in what will be his sixth collegiate year of football. He has picked up offers from Akron, Marshall, Middle Tennessee and several FCS schools since entering the portal. Originally from Brooklyn, New York and James Madison High School, Hall enrolled at Monmouth for the 2019 season where he redshirted. He then played sparingly in the COVID affected spring 2021 season. In the fall of 2021, Hall played in 10 games as a reserve offensive lineman. In 2022, Hall started all 11 games for Monmouth at left tackle and helped lead an offensive unit that led the CAA in total offense and scoring offense while blocking for the nation’s leading rusher. Last year, Hall played in just three games as he was injured.

5/19/24: DB Jason Duclona (UCF)

Jason Duclona, a transfer defensive back from UCF. He has four years of eligibility remaining. Duclona is a 6’1”, 170 pound defensive back originally from Estero, Florida. He went to UCF as a freshman in 2023, redshirting on the season and not recording any stats. His brother, Jonas Duclona, currently plays for the Wisconsin Badgers.

5/18/24: DT Mike Jarvis (Wisconsin)

Jarvis has two years of eligibility remaining. The 6’4″, 290 pound Jarvis is originally from Medford, New Jersey where he signed with the Badgers out of high school over offers from Duke, Florida State, Indiana, Nebraska, Rutgers, Syracuse, Vanderbilt, Virginia, Wake Forest, and others. After redshirting his true freshman season in 2021, Jarvis did not see any game action over the past two seasons at Wisconsin. He was a three star recruit out of high school, recording 44 tackles, 3 sacks, 2 fumble recoveries, and a forced fumble in just seven games as a senior.

5/6/24: WR Elijah Canion (Purdue)

Canion is a 6’4″, 220 pound wide receiver originally from Hollywood, Florida. He has two years of eligibility remaining. Canion played the last two seasons at Purdue, being hampered by injuries while with the Boilermakers, finishing with just one catch for four yards in four games played. He spent his first two years at Auburn where he played in 7 games, recording 7 catches for 126 yards and a touchdown. Canion caught a 57 yard touchdown catch from Bo Nix in the Citrus Bowl in 2020 as a freshman at Auburn. He finished that game with 3 catches for 80 yards and the score.

5/5/24: OL DJ Geth (North Carolina)

Geth is a 6’3″, 305 pound offensive lineman originally from Spartanburg, South Carolina where he played for Dorman High School. He was a three-star prospect and ranked as the nation’s 53rd best guard by ESPN in his recruiting class. He blocked for an offense that averaged 260.3 rushing yards per game. Since entering the portal, he has picked up offers from Memphis, Jacksonville State, Coastal Carolina, Georgia State, South Alabama, and others. His dad, Ed Geth, played basketball at North Carolina and was a member of the Tar Heels’ 1993 national title team.

4/28/24: LB Ethan Crisp (Vanderbilt)

Crisp is a 6’3″, 220 pound linebacker originally from Mount Juliet, Tennessee. He saw playing action in one game in 2023 for the Commodores during his true freshman season, redshirting as he has four years of eligibility remaining. Crisp was a three-star recruit out of high school. He was ranked as a top 100 prospect by all four national recruiting services. He chose the Commodores out of high school over several other Power Five programs, having 16 offers from Power Five schools including Auburn, Kentucky, Ole Miss and Tennessee.

4/27/24: CB Charles Yates, Jr. (Arizona/ODU)

Yates is a 5’10”, 190 pound defensive back originally from Mobile, Alabama. He spent the 2022 season at the JUCO level, playing for LA Pierce College, where he recorded 25 tackles, 1 TFL, 2 PBUs, and 1 forced fumble. He then transferred to Arizona where he spent the 2023 season. He appeared in five games for the Wildcats and recorded two tackles. Yates entered the portal in late December 2023, landing at Old Dominion. After the spring semester with the Monarchs, Yates went back in the portal.

4/26/24: DE Brenton Williams (Auburn)

The 6’3′”, 262 pound Williams is from Opelika, Alabama. The former three-star recruit played in two games as a true freshman in 2023 for the Tigers before redshirting. Since entering the portal, Williams has picked up offers from Liberty, West Virginia, and FAU. He has four years of eligibility remaining.

4/26/24: WR Julian Gray (NC State)

Gray, a former four-star recruit from Huntersville, North Carolina, played at NC State for three seasons. During that time, the 5’11”, 190 pound receiver totaled 30 receptions for 298 yards and one touchdown. In 2023, Gray had 16 passes for 170 yards and a touchdown. The redshirt-junior made his biggest impact on special teams as a kick returner. This past season, he returned 17 kickoffs for 442 yards and a touchdown. He caught four passes for 50 yards in NC State’s spring game on April 6

4/16/24: LS Ryan Wilkins (UCLA/Elon)

Wilkins, originally from Pennsylvania, played in 35 games across four seasons for Elon and recorded three total tackles in 2023. Following the 2023 campaign, he entered the portal and landed at UCLA. After spending the spring with the Bruins, Wilkins was reported listed first on the depth chart at long snapper but, after a coaching change, he no longer had a spot on the team. Wilkins has one year of eligibility remaining.

TRANSFERRING FROM LIBERTY

5/14/24: WR Errol Rogers Jr.

Update: Rogers entered the portal in December, didn’t find a new home so he worked out with the Flames in the spring. Now, he has committed to FCS Southeastern Louisiana.

Rogers transferred to Liberty from Louisiana prior to the 2023 season.  He played in 6 games this past year, recording 1 catch for 36 yards.

4/30/24: DL Jackson Shirer

Shirer has been a reserve defensive lineman for the Flames, having not been able to carve out a role that included playing time during his career.

4/29/24: OL Chase Mitchell

Mitchell started at left tackle for the Flames in 2023. He spent this past spring working with the first unit at left guard.

4/9/24: LS Austin Turner

Walk-on long snapper Austin Turner has announced his intentions to enter the transfer portal after serving as the Flames’ long snapper in 2023.

4/8/24: LB Maurice Freeman

A transfer from Indiana, Freeman bounce back and forth between safety and linebacker during his time with the Flames. He was unable to crack into the rotation and get consistent playing time while at Liberty.

DECEMBER PORTAL PERIOD:

TRANSFERRING TO LIBERTY

2/7/24: OL John Paul Flores (Louisville)

The 6’4″, 308 pound Flores spent the 2023 season at Louisville where he played in five games, including a start in the Holiday Bowl against USC, while playing primarily at guard. Originally from Arlington, Texas, Flores played at Virginia for the 2022 season where he started six games while playing all 10.

He spent the first four years of his collegiate career at Dartmouth as a left tackle. He was one of the best linemen in the Ivy League, starting all 20 games for the Big Green in 2019 and 2021. Dartmouth led the Ivy League in rushing in both of these seasons and they won back to back league championships. Dartmouth was 18-2 in games Flores started. He comes from an athletic family, having two brothers that played offensive line in the Ivy League.

1/27/24: WR Tyson Mobley (Coastal Carolina)

Mobley was expected to play a significant role in 2023 for the Chanticleers, but, under the new coaching staff, played in just four games with six catches. The 6’0″, 180 pound Mobley has two seasons of eligibility remaining. Now, he gets to return to a coaching staff and offensive system that he is very familiar with. In 2022, Mobley played in all 13 games with 11 starts. He was third on the team with 40 catches for 490 yards and five touchdowns while also serving as Coastal’s punt returner. In 2021, Mobley played in all 13 games with two starts while finishing with 6 catches for 82 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also rushed once for 32 yards and a touchdown. As a true freshman in 2020, Mobley played in five games, finishing with two receptions for 9 yards and two rushes for 25 yards.

1/22/24: DB Dominick Hill (Temple)

Hill entered the transfer portal after two seasons at Temple. The 6’0″, 188 pound Hill began his career at South Carolina before joining the Owls. Hill played sparingly in his first two years with the Gamecocks. He did not record any stats as he redshirted his freshman season. In year two, he played in four games and recorded six tackles before entering the portal. When he left Columbia, Hill found his new home in Philadelphia with Temple. He appeared in all 12 games during the 2022 season while he made 29 tackles and deflected five passes. In 2023, Hill finished with 49 tackles and four PBUs.

1/17/24: QB Ryan Burger (Appalachian State)

The 6’3″, 205 pound Burger entered the transfer portal after two seasons at Appalachian State. He suffered a season ending hand injury in the first half of the first game of the 2023 season. Burger played in just two games while at App State, starting the 2023 opener, completing 11 of 17 passes for 113 yards and one touchdown. He also played 26 snaps against Robert Morris as a true freshman in 2022. After receiving a medical redshirt, Burger has four years of eligibility remaining. He is originally from Myrtle Beach where he threw for 6,474 yards and 70 touchdowns while completing 65% of his passes in three seasons of varsity football in high school.

1/16/24: LB Aidan Vaughan (Wisconsin)

A former three-star recruit in the Class of 2022, the redshirt-freshman Vaughan appeared in just one game during his career with the Wisconsin Badgers and did not record any stats. He has picked up offers in the portal from Liberty, Kent State, Ball State, and Eastern Michigan. The 6’2″ linebacker is originally from Walled Lake Western High School and Wixom, Michigan where he was a consensus three-star recruit. Vaughan was named first team all-state as a senior as he made a school-record 136 tackles and recorded 27 TFLs his senior year. He also scored 10 total touchdowns – 4 rushing, 5 receiving, 1 kick return.

12/25/23: WR Donte Lee, Jr. (Shaw)

Update 1/7/24: After changing his mind due to Kaidon Salter being in the portal and now Salter removing himself from the portal to remain at Liberty, Lee is once again committed to Liberty.

Update 1/5/24: Lee has decoommitted from Liberty

Lee is a 6’3″, 180 pound athlete that entered the portal from Division II Shaw University. He has three seasons of eligibility remaining. Lee has approximately 30 offers since entering the portal in late November. His offer list included NC State, UCF, Iowa State, West Virginia, James Madison, Boston College, Old Dominion, Washington State, UTSA, Marshall, USF, Coastal Carolina, Western Kentucky, and several more. He took official visits to Liberty, NC State, and UConn. He redshirted in 2022 before a breakout redshirt-freshman season in 2023 for Shaw as a wide receiver and kick returner. In 10 games played, Lee had 26 receptions for 402 yards and 3 touchdowns. He also had 13 kick returns for 326 yards and a touchdown with a long of 98. For his exploits, Lee was named All-CIAA first-team as a kick returner and to the all rookie team.

12/20/23: LB/S Jahmar Brown (Coastal Carolina)

Brown is a 6’1″, 210 pound athlete who has played both defensive back and linebacker and likely projects as a linebacker at Liberty. He has one season of eligibility remaining coming from Coastal Carolina. Brown, a grad transfer, played in 12 games at Coastal this past season with 26 tackles, 7.5 TFLs, 4 sacks and 2 passes defended. In 2022, Brown played in seven games for the Chanticleers before suffering a season ending injury. He recorded 21 tackles, 5.5 TFLs, and 3 sacks in 2022. Prior to his time at Coastal, Brown began his career at South Carolina where played in 18 games over three seasons, finishing with 23 tackles.

12/18/23: LB Teylor Jackson (East Carolina)

Liberty adds former ECU starting Mike linebacker Teylor Jackson. He chose the Flames over numerous offers including Arizona State, UCF, WKU, and UTSA. Jackson has one year of eligibility remaining. He started all 12 games for the Pirates last year, finishing with 52 tackles, 1 sack, 4 PBUs, 3 QB hurries, and a forced fumble.

12/18/23: DT Eli Hall (Wake Forest)

The former 4-star prospect out of high school, Hall comes to Liberty after two years at Wake Forest. He redshirted in 2022 and did not record any stats in 2023. Hall joins former Wake Forest RB Quinton Cooley now at Liberty.

TRANSFERRING FROM LIBERTY

1/6/24: QB Reese Mooney

Update 1/15: Mooney has committed to North Texas.

Mooney has entered the transfer portal, according to sources. The highly touted recruit out of high school committed to the Flames under previous head coach Hugh Freeze and stayed true to his commitment and signed even after the coaching change. He did not play during the 2023 season, utilizing his redshirt year.

1/6/24: WR Errol Rogers Jr.

Update 2/9/24: Rogers has withdrawn from the portal and is on Liberty’s spring roster.

Rogers transferred to Liberty from Louisiana prior to the 2023 season.  He played in 6 games this past year, recording 1 catch for 36 yards.

1/6/24: LB Olan Robinson

Robinson was a true freshman in 2023, redshirting and not recording any stats.

1/4/24: WR CJ Daniels

Update 1/14: Daniels has committed to LSU.

Daniels led the Flames in 2023 with 55 catches for 1,067 yards and 10 touchdowns this season.

1/2/24: CB Kobe Singleton

Update 1/8: Singleton has committed to Oregon State.

Singleton started at corner for Liberty this past season. He finished the year with 41 tackles, 12 PBUs and 4 interceptions.

1/2/24: QB Kaidon Salter

Update 1/5: Salter is set to return to Liberty and will remove his name from the portal.

Salter has two years of eligibility remaining. He helped lead Liberty to unprecedented success in 2023 in his first year as the team’s starting quarterback. The Flames finished the year at 13-1 following a loss to Oregon on New Year’s Day in the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl. Salter completed 177 of 290 passes for 2,876 yards, 32 touchdowns and 6 interceptions. He also rushed 163 times for 1,089 yards and 12 additional scores.

12/13/23: DB Preston Hodge

Update 12/16: Hodge has committed to Colorado.

Hodge began his Liberty career at safety before switching to corner. In 2023, one of the Flames’ top defensive players, Hodge recorded 48 tackles, 3 TFLs, 2 interceptions, and 1 forced fumble.

12/6/23: DT Kendy Charles

Update 1/17: Charles has committed to Duke.

Charles was plagued by injuries during the 2023 season. He played in 7 games, finishing the year with 24 tackles, 4.5 TFLs, and 3 sacks.

12/5/23: S Jaylon Jimmerson

Update 12/21: Jimmerson has committed to Sam Houston.

Playing in all 13 games this season, Jimmerson recorded 18 tackles, 2 TFLs and 1 interception from the safety position for the Flames.

12/4/23: LB Jordan Norwood

A redshirt-freshman, Norwood did not receive any playing time during the 2023 season.

12/4/23: DE Bryan Whitehead II

Update 12/19: Whitehead has committed to Arkansas State.

Transferring to Liberty from a JUCO prior to the 2023 season, Whitehead played all 13 games for the Flames this season playing as a reserve defensive end. He registered 14 tackles, 3 TFLs and 0.5 sacks.

12/4/23: DT Tysheik Galloway

Galloway was a reserve interior defensive lineman for the Flames this season. He played in 8 games with 4 tackles and 1 sack after joining Liberty from Coffeyville Community College.

12/4/23: DE Amari Williams

Update 1/19: Williams has committed to Lamar

Williams transferred to Liberty this season from Fullerton College. He played in one game for the Flames.

12/2/23: QB Johnathan Bennett

Update 12/21: Bennett has committed to the Citadel.

In 2022, Bennett played in 12 games while making seven starts. He helped lead the Flames to wins over BYU and Arkansas in consecutive weeks. He completed 131 of 224 passing attempts for 1,534 yards and 12 touchdowns.

9/29/23: LB Aakil Washington

Update: Washington has committed to South Alabama.

In 2020 as a freshman, Washington played in 9 games and finished the season with 6 tackles and four QB hurries. In 2021 and 2022, Washington played in all 26 games, as he totaled 73 tackles, 9 tackles for loss and 6 sacks. In 2023, he played in four games with 4 tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss.
