This page will track which Liberty players enter the transfer portal and which players in the portal decide to transfer to the Flames. It will be updated for each addition to either category.

DECEMBER PORTAL PERIOD:

TRANSFERRING TO LIBERTY

12/27/24: LB Micah Pollard (Michigan)

Pollard is a 6’3″, 200 pound linebacker who played in 30 career games over three seasons at Michigan, including two in 2024, finishing with 15 career tackles for the maize and blue. As a true freshman in 2022, Pollard appeared in 13 games on special teams for the Wolverines and four at linebacker, finishing with 8 tackles and twice being named Special Teams Freshman of the Game by Michigan. In 2023, Pollard played in all 15 Michigan games with 7 tackles while helping them to the CFP national championship. This year, Pollard played in two games, against Fresno State and Texas, before being unavailable the rest of the season with an undisclosed injury. In addition to the national title, Pollard was part of a team with two Big Ten titles and two trips to the CFP, as well as three wins over Ohio State.

12/22/24: DT Markus Clark (Appalachian State)

Clark is a 6’1″, 295 pound defensive lineman who picked up offers from Toledo, Arkansas State, and others since entering the portal. He played in two games in 2024 for the Mountaineers, recording five tackles, one tackle for loss, and one forced fumble. In 2023, Clark appeared in 11 games, starting the first eight at defensive tackle for App State. He had 21 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and one sack on the season. In 2022, Clark appeared in nine games as a true freshman as he recorded five tackles, one tackle for loss, and one forced fumble.

12/22/24: QB Ethan Vasko (Coastal Carolina/Kansas)

Vasko has two years of eligibility remaining. The 6’3″, 220 pound quarterback is originally from Chesapeake, Virginia where he attended Oscar Smith High School. He began his college career at Kansas before transferring to Coastal Carolina and new head coach Tim Beck following the 2022 season.

He started all 12 games for Coastal in 2024, throwing 14 touchdowns and 8 interceptions with a 55% completion percentage while throwing for over 2,000 yards. In his most recent performance, Vasko completed 13 of 17 passes for 200  yards with 3 touchdowns and 1 interception. He also rushed for 68 yards and a touchdown on 13 rushing attempts. The regular season finale performance at Georgia State helped lift the Chanticleers to the win and bowl eligibility.

In 2023, as a redshirt-freshman, Vasko played some after Grayson McCall was injured. In four starts, he threw 7 touchdowns and had just one interception. He had 7 appearances total during 2023, completing 63% of his passes for almost 800 yards. Vasko was named Hawaii Bowl MVP following a 24-14 Chanticleer win over San Jose State to end the 2023 campaign. He finished the game with 199 yards passing and three touchdowns.

12/19/24: DT DJ Jackson (NC State)

Originally from Sumter, South Carolina, Jackson is a 6’1″, 272 pound defensive lineman who has spent his first three seasons at NC State. He has at least two years of eligibility remaining and could add a third with a medical waiver. Jackson played at Sumter High School and missed his senior year with an ACL injury. As a junior, he had 56 tackles, 26 tackles for loss, and 4.5 sacks. He was ranked as one of the top players in South Carolina in his recruiting class as a three-star rated prospect. Jackson enrolled at NC State in January 2022 but missed the 2022 campaign as he continued to recover from the ACL injury. He also missed the 2023 season with an achilles injury. In 2024, Jackson recorded 9 tackles and 0.5 sacks in 8 games played and 131 snaps. He was the second-string nose tackle for the Wolfpack.

12/18/24: LB Deuce Spurlock (Florida/Michigan)

Spurlock spent the past two seasons at Florida after beginning his college career at Michigan. The 6’1″, 230 pound linebacker was ranked as a three-star recruit in the Class of 2022. Originally from Madison, Alabama, Spurlock played in two games at Michigan in 2022 during his true freshman season, maintaining his redshirt before heading to Gainesville. He was named Freshman Defensive Player of the Game honors in his collegiate debut against Hawaii. In 2023, he played in three games for Florida, all on special teams. He did not play in 2024.

12/17/24: OL Trey Bedosky (UAB)

Bedosky is a 6’6″, 300 pound offensive lineman who has spent his entire career at UAB. This past season, he played in three games and started one at right tackle. He suffered an injury during the 2023 season, forcing him to miss some time. As a redshirt-sophomore in 2022, Bedosky played in seven games and started two. In 2021, as a redshirt-freshman, Bedosky appeared in 12 games for the Blazers, primarily in jumbo packages and on special teams as he was named to the CUSA All-Freshman Team.

12/17/24: WR Trent Hudson (Mississippi State/NMSU)

Update 12/22/24: Hudson flipped his commitment from Liberty to Vanderbilt

After beginning his career at the JUCO level where he was named an NJCAA All-American as a freshman in 2022, he landed at New Mexico State. Hudson exploded onto the scene in 2023 at New Mexico State where he had 36 receptions for 551 yards and 10 touchdowns. He then transferred to Mississippi State where he played in four games this past season but did not record any stats. Since entering the portal, Hudson has picked up offers from Liberty, Southern Miss, Washington State, FAU, Sam Houston, Coastal Carolina, Bowling Green, UAB, North Texas, and Western Kentucky.

12/17/24: OL Erwil Anthony (Wingate)

Anthony is a 6’4″, 285 pound offensive lineman who attended Division II Wingate. Originally from Kannappolis, North Carolina, Anthony earned the Jacobs Blocking trophy as his conference’s top offensive lineman this past season and was also named first-team all-conference. Anthony started every game at right tackle for the Bulldogs, helping Wingate put up 29.1 points per game on the season. Anthony helped Wingate’s balanced attack produce 170 rushing yards and 183 passing yards per contest. Since entering the portal, Anthony picked up offers from Fresno State, Colorado State, Middle Tennessee, UTEP, and several FCS schools.

12/15/24: RB Evan Dickens (Georgia Tech)

As a true freshman in 2023 with the Yellow Jackets, Dickens appeared in 12 games primarily on special teams and as a reserve running back. The 5’11”, 195 pound back played in 12 games while rushing 11 times for 47 yards on 30 offensive plays over six games. He did not play for Georgia Tech in 2024. Dickens finished his high school career at IMG Academy in Florida. He was a three star recruit out of high school with several offers. He originally committed to Coastal Carolina under much of the current Liberty staff before flipping to the ACC program in Atlanta. Dickens is originally from Roswell, Georgia where he attended Blessed Trinity. As a senior at IMG, Dickens rushed for 480 yards and 9 touchdowns on 57 carries. He also caught 3 passes for 31 yards. Dickens had 100 yards on 13 carries with 3 touchdowns in the ESPN High School Showcase game as IMG Academy defeated Central-Phenix City.

TRANSFERRING FROM LIBERTY

12/16/24: CB Dominick Hill

Update: Hill has announced his commitment to Southern Miss

Hill transferred to Liberty from Temple for the 2024 season. Hill did not play for the Flames this past fall.

12/12/24: DL Eliyt Nairne

Update: Nairne has committed to Tulane.

Nairne redshirted for the Flames in 2023 as a true freshman, but he developed into a strong rotation piece on the interior of the defensive line in 2024. This past season he had 25 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and a sack.

12/12/24: OL Izaiah Taylor

Taylor was redshirted in 2024 as a true freshman. He did not see any action.

12/12/24: DB Marquis Bell

Bell was a reserve defensive back for the Flames in 2023. He played both safety and corner, finishing that year with 15 tackles and 3 pass breakups. Bell had a reduced role this past season, finishing the year with just one tackle.

12/11/24: DL Rod Daniels

Update: Daniels has committed to Kennesaw State

Daniels was a mid-year enrollee a year ago, joining Liberty from Northwestern Mississippi Community College. He played in 10 of 11 games for the Flames this season as a reserve defensive lineman, finishing with one tackle.

12/9/24: S Jabin Ford

Ford has been a reserve defensive back for the Flames for the past two seasons. He posted 4 tackles in 10 games played this past season, primarily on special teams.

12/9/24: RB Victor Venn

Venn transferred to Liberty from Colorado prior to the 2023 season when he had 5 carries for 25 yards and 2 receptions for 10 yards. He also was part of Liberty’s kickoff return team. This past fall, Venn did not record any stats as he suffered through an injury.

12/8/24: QB Nate Hampton

Update: Hampton has announced his commitment to Gardner-Webb.

Hampton was Liberty’s third string quarterback this past season. He completed 4 of 13 passes for 139 yards and 1 touchdown while rushing 19 times for 50 yards during his three year career with the Flames.

12/7/24: DL Marius Landsfeld

Landsfeld has been a reserve defensive lineman for the Flames the past couple of seasons.

12/5/24: WR Cesar Carrasco

Carrasco was a walk-on for the Flames.

12/4/24: WR Markel Fortenberry

Fortenberry has been a reserve wide receiver for the Flames for the past couple of years.

12/4/24: WR Kylen Austin

Austin has 4 receptions for 117 yards during his Liberty career.

12/4/24: DT Bryce Dixon

Update 12/11: Dixon announces he will be returning to Liberty.

Dixon was an anchor on Liberty’s defensive line this past season. A starter, he recorded 32 tackles, 1 sack, 1 forced fumble, 2 fumble recoveries, and 2 pass breakups. Over three seasons, Dixon has 77 tackles, 5 pass breakups, and 2.5 sacks.

12/3/24: RB James Jointer

Update: Jointer has committed to Eastern Michigan.

Jointer transferred to Liberty prior to the 2023 season from Arkansas where he was a highly rated prospect out of high school. In his first season with the Flames, Jointer had 43 carries for 251 yards and 2 touchdowns. This past season, while fighting through injuries, Jointer had 12 carries for 61 yards. With the losses of Quinton Cooley and Billy Lucas, it was expected that Jointer would fight to be a starting running back in 2025.

12/2/24: OL Jordan Hall

Hall transferred to Liberty this past summer from Monmouth. He had total ankle reconstruction surgery during the offseason and it took him a little while to get full speed this past fall. Once he did, he became a key member of Liberty’s rotation on the offensive line, working primarily at tackle.

12/2/24: QB Kaidon Salter

Update 12/18/24: Salter has committed to Colorado

Update 12/9/24: Salter is expected to visit Syracuse this weekend and also plans to take visits to Colorado and Florida State.

Salter has one year of eligibility remaining. He helped lead Liberty to unprecedented success in 2023 in his first full year as the team’s starting quarterback. The Flames finished the year at 13-1 following a loss to Oregon on New Year’s Day in the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl. Salter completed 177 of 290 passes for 2,876 yards, 32 touchdowns and 6 interceptions. He also rushed 163 times for 1,089 yards and 12 additional scores.

Salter briefly went into the portal following the Fiesta Bowl but changed his mind and returned to Liberty for the 2024 season. This past year as Liberty’s starting quarterback, Salter helped the Flames to an 8-3 season. He was 147 of 261 passing for 1,886 yards, 15 touchdowns, and 6 interceptions. He also rushed 114 times for 586 yards and 7 touchdowns.

12/2/24: OL Jordan White

Update 12/18/24: White has committed to Vanderbilt

Originally a transfer from West Virginia, White was named to the CUSA All-Conference second team in 2023 as he started all 14 games at center for the Flames. He played on nearly 94% of the team’s snaps last year. This season, White spent most of his time as Liberty’s starting left guard and was once again among the team leaders in snaps played.

12/2/24: OL Xavior Gray

Update 12/14: Gray has committed to Northwestern

Gray transferred to Liberty from Akron prior to the 2023 season. He started all 14 games for the Flames in 2023 at right tackle and ranked fifth on the team in total offensive snaps. This year, Gray maintained his spot as Liberty’s starting right tackle.

10/22/24: K Nick Brown

Brown is in the portal as a grad transfer. He served as Liberty’s primary kicker during the 2022 and 2023 seasons. He made 16 of 29 field goals with a long of 49 and also connected on 105 PATs. Colin Karhu beat him out as the Flames’ kicker in 2024.
