Liberty wing Curtis Blair III has entered the transfer portal. He is the fourth member of the Flames’ team to enter the portal since it opened last week, joining Kai Yu, Will Gibson, and Bryson Spell.
Blair is a 6’6″, 210 pound redshirt-freshman originally from Richmond, Virginia and the Steward School. After redshirting as a true freshman in 2023-24, Blair played in 15 games this past season for the Flames where he averaged 2.5 points and 1.3 rebounds per game while shooting 46.4% from the field and 30.8% from three. He had career highs of 19 points and 12 rebounds on Dec. 17 in a Liberty win 124-50 over St. Andrews. Blair saw playing time in 6 conference games, playing a total of 12 minutes in those games.
Blair was one of the top high school prospects in the state of Virginia in the Class of 2023. He was a three-time All-Metro Richmond first-team selection and named the Tidewater Conference of Independents School Player of the Year as a junior and senior. He averaged 22 points per game his senior season. He is the son of NBA referee Curtis Blair, Jr.
The transfer portal for men’s basketball remains open until April 22. As the roster is currently constructed, the Flames have three open roster spots for next season’s team. That is assuming that Taelon Peter and Jayvon Maughmer do not return, which is not a guarantee as they could look to the NCAA for an additional year of eligibility. If Peter and Maughmer do not return, the Flames currently have three roster spots available for next season. If they do return, Liberty would have just one roster spot available to add to next year’s team from the transfer portal.
