Liberty has picked up a commitment from NC State transfer defensive tackle DJ Jackson.

Originally from Sumter, South Carolina, Jackson is a 6’1″, 272 pound defensive lineman who has spent his first three seasons at NC State. He has at least two years of eligibility remaining and could add a third with a medical waiver.

Jackson played at Sumter High School and missed his senior year with an ACL injury. As a junior, he had 56 tackles, 26 tackles for loss, and 4.5 sacks. He was ranked as one of the top players in South Carolina in his recruiting class as a three-star rated prospect.

Jackson enrolled at NC State in January 2022 but missed the 2022 campaign as he continued to recover from the ACL injury. He also missed the 2023 season with an achilles injury. In 2024, Jackson recorded 9 tackles and 0.5 sacks in 8 games played and 131 snaps. He was the second-string nose tackle for the Wolfpack.

Liberty has picked up several commitments in the transfer portal this month, but Jackson is the first on the defensive line.
