Liberty posted a perfect 4-0 weekend at the Liberty Softball Classic, opening up at home for the first time this season. The Lady Flames are now 12-3 on the season as they continue their long home stand.

FRIDAY: #20 LIBERTY 12, CHARLESTON SOUTHERN 0 (5 INNINGS)

In its home opener, Liberty run-ruled Charleston Southern, 12-0, in five innings to snap a three-game losing streak. The Lady Flames scored three runs before CSU could get an out, jumping out to a 4-0 lead after one. That was all the offense starting pitcher Tyler Oubre would need as she tossed a three-hit shutout.

Liberty stole a season-high seven bases with five of those coming in the first inning. Rachel Roupe went 2 for 4 with a double, a homer, three runs scored, and four RBI. Savannah Woodard was 1 for 2 with two walks, two steals, and four runs scored. Brynn McManus hit her first home run of the season while driving in two runs. KK Madrey stole her 13th base while also driving in one run and scoring once.

Oubre improved to 2-0 on the season while tossing the second shutout of her career. She walked one and struck out three in five innings as the Flames improved to 52-22 all-time against Charleston Southern. Liberty is 11-1 against Big South teams since leaving the conference after the 2018 season.

SATURDAY: #20 LIBERTY 9, SAINT JOE’S 2

Liberty improved to 10-3 on the season with a 9-2 win over Saint Joseph’s on Saturday. The Lady Flames jumped out to a 6-1 lead after three innings. The Hawks would load the bases with one out in the top of the 5th. Danner Allen came on in relief of Kaylan Yoder, allowing one inherited runner to scorer while limiting the damage. Allen retired the last seven batters she faced.

Saint Joe’s was limited to just two hits in the game. Yoder got the win, allowing two runs on one hit, walking eight and striking out four in 4.1 innings. Allen picked up her first career save in 2.2 innings of one hit relief with five strikeouts.

Brooke Roberts went 2 for 3 with a sac fly, t here RBI, and two runs scored. Savannah Whatley went 2 for 2 with a double and two RBI. Rachel Roupe batted 2 for 3 with one RBI and one double.

SUNDAY GAME 1: #20 LIBERTY 8, HOFSTRA 0 (5 INNINGS)

The Lady Flames burst out of the gates in the bottom of the first, scoring seven runs. Brooke Roberts got the scoring going with an RBI single, while Alyssa Henault and JaMaya Byrum both smashed three-run homers.

Liberty outhit Hofstra 7-1 with the Pride’s lone hit coming in the first inning. Freshman Danner Allen earned her first career win, tossing a one-hit shutout during which she struck out a career-high eight batters.

Hennault was 1 for 3 with a home run, three RBI, and a run scored while Byrum was 1 for 2 with a home run, 3 RBI and one run. Rachel Roupe hit 1 for 2 with a double and 2 RBI.

SUNDAY GAME 2: #20 LIBERTY 3, RADFORD 2

Both teams scored twice a in the second inning, with Liberty tying the game up at 2 on a two-run single by Savannah Jessee in the home half. In the fourth, Jessee singled before advancing to second on a passed ball. Savannah Woodard sent a single to center, with Jessee racing home with what proved to be the winning run.

Elena Escobar improved to 3-1 with the win, allowing two runs, one earned, on seven hits, walking two and striking out six. Jessee was 2 for 3 with two RBI and one run scored while KK Madrey was 2 for 3 with one run scored.

Liberty is currently in the midst of a 9-game home stand that continues this week. On Wednesday, the Lady Flames host Virginia Tech on at 5 p.m. on ESPN+ before playing in the Liberty Softball Invitational. Liberty is scheduled to host Drexel on Friday at noon and Georgetown on Friday at 2 p.m. On Saturday, the Flames are scheduled to play Lehigh at 4 p.m. and Appalachian State at 6 p.m.
