Liberty has hired VCU head baseball coach Bradley LeCroy as its next head coach, as first reported by Kendall Rogers of D1Baseball.
This hiring comes just a few days after the Flames lost former head coach Scott Jackson who abruptly resigned to return to North Carolina as an assistant coach.
LeCroy, 45, comes to Liberty from VCU where he has been the head coach of the Rams. over the past two seasons, LeCroy has guided VCU to a 63-53 overall record, improving from 25-30 in his inaugural season as a head coach to a 38-23 mark this past year while helping lead the Rams to an NCAA Regional.
VCU finished second in the Atlantic 10 this past season before winning the 2024 Atlantic 10 Conference baseball tournament. They played in the Greenville Regional as the No. 3 seed where East Carolina was the No. 1 seed and regional host. The Rams defeated No. 2 seed Wake Forest, 1-0, in the opening game of the regional. The Rams would fall to Evansville and East Carolina in its next two games, being eliminated from the regional.
From 2003-05, LeCroy served as a volunteer assistant at Clemson. In 2007, he spent a year at Western Carolina and then three seasons at Tennessee. In 2011, he returned to Clemson, working as recruiting coordinator and infielders coach as well as working with the hitters.
LeCroy played at Clemson from 1997-2000, was a member of the Tigers’ 2000 College World Series team and was on four NCAA Tournament teams.
LeCroy played shortstop at Clemson in college, returning to his alma mater as an assistant in 2003. He has also been an assistant at Western Carolina and Tennessee.
