The #15 Flames went on the road this weekend against #23 Rhode Island, and came back to Lynchburg with a pair of ESCHL wins.  Liberty goes to 7-1 in conference, and 8-2 overall on the season.  There were numerous big individual performances on the weekend in concurrence with the excellent overall team efforts.  An honorable mention goes to Senior Center Grant Garvin who dropped 2 goals and an assist on URI in Friday night’s 6-2 win.  Liberty returns to LaHaye Ice Center this weekend for a pair of 7pm games against #8 Ohio.  Both games will be streamed live by LFSN and the Big South Network, for those of you unable to make it to the LIC this weekend.  Here are your 3 stars of the weekend…

1st

Quinn Ryan, Sophomore Center

Ryan has been rolling as of late, but his weekend on the road against Rhode Island really stood out.  The New Jersey native tallied 2 goals and 3 assists in two games against the Rams.  Quinn’s second big weekend in a row now has him tied for the team lead in scoring with star forward Grant Garvin.  Quinn will look to add to his stat sheet this weekend against an always tough Ohio Bobcats team.

2nd

Jordan Bochinski, Freshman Forward

The “Bo Show” dropped one in the net Friday night, and then added another goal and 2 assists Saturday afternoon against Rhode Island.  The Freshman is living up to his pre-season hype, and is now 5th on the team in scoring.  We look forward to watching Jordan’s development with the Flames as the season goes on.

3rd

Cole Burack, Junior Goaltender

Burack got the big shutout win on Saturday afternoon, his second shutout as a Flame.  His 23 save performance against the Rams was particularly big in light of the difficult night Cole had against Syracuse on October 13.  The Junior goaltender played well all night against the Orange, but ultimately allowed 3 goals in the third period, leading to his only loss in a Liberty uniform.  Another shutout on the road should add to Cole’s confidence going forward.  That’s good news for Coach Handy and company, as the Flames will need his presence in the net down the stretch.
