As a new feature this week, we will be naming Liberty Hockey’s “3 Stars of The Weekend” after each pair of the Flames’ weekend match ups. This week’s installment is based on the outstanding performance of the team on the road against Rutgers. LU posted a pair of 6-0 shutouts against the Scarlet Knights.
1st
Grant Garvin, Graduate Center
Garvin has the sort of weekend you want out of a player in his final season with the program. Grant tallied 4 goals and 3 assists in the two games against Rutgers. The 6’4″ Center leads the Flames with 17 points (7 goals, 10 assists) thus far on the season.
2nd
Cole Burack, Sophomore Goaltender
Cole posted his first shutout in a Flames sweater Friday night, stopping 21 shots in a 6-0 win. Burack is currently nursing a sparkling 0.67 Goals Against Average, .969 Save Percentage, and 3-0 record on the year. Liberty looks strong in goal this season, but Burack, the Dallas native, looks to lead the way early.
3rd
Brock Thompson, Sophomore Forward
Brock had a 4 point weekend against Rutgers, tallying 2 goals and 2 assists. Friday night was a strong night in particular, as Thompson logged a goal and 2 assists. The Flames’ second leading scorer on the season now has 7 goals and 6 assists in 2017.
