The Liberty Lady Flames defeated the second place team in Conference USA, FIU, in the team’s only game of the week, to improve to 13-14 overall and 8-4 in CUSA play with its sixth consecutive home win. Here’s a recap from the last week as well as a look at this week’s schedule:
W, 71-56 vs FIU, Feb. 22
Jordan Hodges and Bella Smuda each recorded a double-double to help power Liberty past second-place FIU on Thursday night at Liberty Arena. The Lady Flames dominated the glass, 55-38, against the conference’s top rebounding team to avenge a 70-59 road defeat from January. The Panthers, suffering just their third loss in 15 games, were limited to 19 first half points and shot only 27.7% for the night.
Liberty owned a one point lead late in the first quarter before the Lady Flames exploded for a 12-0 run. Emma Hess and Jordan Hodges tallied five points a piece during the search, which ended with Liberty in front by 13 early in the second quarter. FIU got no closer than nine points the remainder of the contest.
