Liberty senior linebacker Anthony Butler has declared for the 2021 NFL Draft.

“First, I would like to thank God, my family, and everyone who has supported me through my entire journey,” Butler said in a statement posted to Liberty Football’s social media accounts. “I would like to thank Coach Freeze and the entire Liberty Football staff for believing in me and giving me a chance to represent this prestigious university on and off the field. I have been through a lot of adversity to get to this point, but every adverse situation helped lead me to becoming a more humble man and football player. Liberty University has treated me with open arms from day one and I am forever indebted to this staff and university. Thank you Flames Nation!”

Butler transferred into the Liberty football program in the spring after spending the previous three seasons at Charlotte. He started all 10 games he played in this season for the Flames at Mike Linebacker, finishing second on the team with 67 tackles. Butler also added 4 tackles for loss, 1 sack, 2 interceptions, and 6 passes defended.
