Liberty was ranked for three weeks earlier this season as the Flames jumped out to a program-best start at 8-0 with wins over Syracuse and Virginia Tech. Following Liberty’s 15-14 loss at NC State two weeks ago, the Flames dropped out of both the Associated Press and Coaches Top 25 polls.
This week, following Liberty’s shutout win over UMass, 45-0, on Black Friday, the Flames have moved back into both top 25 polls. The Flames moved up to No. 25 in both the Coaches Top 25 and the AP Top 25 Poll.
This week’s ranking sets the stage for Liberty’s regular season finale this coming Saturday against No. 14 Coastal Carolina. The Chanticleers improved to 9-0 on the season with a win over Texas State Saturday and have moved up to No.14 in both polls. Saturday’s game will be the first ever Top 25 matchup in school history for the Flames as Liberty looks for its first ever win over a ranked FBS opponent.
