PREVIEW
Liberty concludes a brief 2-game road trip at North Alabama Saturday afternoon. The Flames are 3-0 all-time against the Lions, coming off a 63-52 win at home last month. It was a game where Liberty jumped out to a 32-17 lead late in the first half, but UNA would close the opening 20 minutes on a 10-2 run stay within striking distance. A 9-0 spurt in the 2nd half would cut the Liberty lead to 3 with just over 6 minutes to play, but North Alabama would miss two three-point attempts that would have tied the game as Liberty was able to cruise to the victory.
Wearing a protective facemask, Myo Baxter-Bell led the team with 16 points as he made 5-of-7 field goals and all 6 of his free throws. Scottie James and Caleb Homesley had 14 points each. James also added 7 rebounds. Pacheco-Ortiz added 9 points despite missing 7 of his 10 field goal attempts.
North Alabama is coming off back-to-back losses, each by 2 points, as they lost at Jacksonville, 85-83, and at home against Lipscomb, 73-71, on Thursday night. Christian Agnew scored 20 points in the losing cause against Lipscomb, his 2nd consecutive 20 point game.
They are 5-5 in ASUN play and currently in 4th place just ahead of the logjob from 5th-8th, who are all separated by half a game. The Flames are looking to keep pace with North Florida, both teams are 8-2 in league play. The Ospreys are at Florida Gulf Coast Saturday night at 7.
