Expect a frantic month of June as the recruiting dead period from the NCAA has officially lifted for the first time since the COVID pandemic began. This allows prospects and coaches to have in-person recruiting visits across the country as campuses finally open up.
Ritchie McKay and the Liberty Flames have jumped into the frenzy, offering Javan Simmons after his visit to campus in Lynchburg over the weekend. Simmons is a 6’6″, 210 pound forward that attends Gahanna Lincoln High School in Columbus, Ohio. The class of 2022 prospect also has offers from Toledo and Miami (OH). This past season he averaged 11.2 points per game in 23 games played.
Simmons becomes just the second prospect in the Class of 2022 with an open offer from the Flames, joining Josh Reed. The four star rated prospect from Georgia, Reed has exploded onto the recruiting scene in recent weeks picking up offers from the likes of Georgia Tech, Texas A&M, Northwestern, Georgia, Clemson, and South Carolina.
After a great visit with Coach McKay I am excited and blessed to say I have received an Offer from @LibertyMBB_. Go Flames. 🔥 pic.twitter.com/rSrOhKChaw
