Ford-Dement was a two-star JUCO transfer from Kilgore Junior College, in Kilgore, Texas. In his first year at ODU, Ford-Dement was arguably one of the program’s top cornerbacks. Ford-Dement managed to have 26 total tackles, 2 interceptions and 13 passes defended during the 2019 season.
Prior to ODU’s 2020 season getting canceled, due to COVID-19, Ford-Dement was put on the preseason Jim Thorpe Award watchlist, an award given to the top defensive back in the nation. Liberty was his second offer since entering the transfer portal as UCLA offered just a day prior. Ford-Dement is transferring with two years of eligibility remaining.
Liberty is looking to potentially add to its Class of 2021 as the Flames have previously signed 19 with room for as many as 6 more to join prior to the start of the 2021 season.
