Under fourth year head coach Hugh Freeze and his staff, the Liberty Flames continue to see their recruiting rankings increase each and every year. That continues with the early start to the 2023 class.
Liberty currently has six commitments in their class which can sign as early as December as part of the early signing period. Those six commitments are QB Hank Brown, WRs Jeremiah Shack and Quentin Thomas, OLs Tajh Boyd and Cal Grubbs, and LB Olan Robinson. All of them are three-star rated prospects by the varioius recruiting services and all have Power Five offers.
Shack is the fourth highest rated commit in program history while Grubbs ranks No. 13 and Thomas is No. 14 on the all-time list according to 247Sports. This recruiting service has not added either Brown or Boyd into Liberty’s commit list yet. Brown, who is rated as an 86 by 247Sports but has no composite ranking by the service, would rank as a top five Liberty commit all-time with a similar composite ranking.
With a strong start to the class, Liberty currently ranks No. 53 among all programs in the class of 2023, according to On3 Sports. While it is extremely early and these numbers will change throughout the next several months, it does show that the Flames continue to see an uptick in recruiting classes each and every year.
On3 Sports is not the only recruiting service that has Liberty ranked highly for the 2023 class. 247Sports currently has the Flames at No. 73 and Rivals has Liberty at No. 61.
