Liberty has picked up a commitment from transfer CB Charles Yates.
Yates is a 5’10”, 190 pound defensive back originally from Mobile, Alabama. He spent the 2022 season at the JUCO level, playing for LA Pierce College, where he recorded 25 tackles, 1 TFL, 2 PBUs, and 1 forced fumble.
He then transferred to Arizona where he spent the 2023 season. He appeared in five games for the Wildcats and recorded two tackles. Yates entered the portal in late December 2023, landing at Old Dominion. After the spring semester with the Monarchs, Yates is back in the portal now.
Yates will be able to help the Flames provide additional depth and experience at corner where Liberty is looking to replace Preston Hodge and Kobe Singleton.
