Liberty has added a commitment from JUCO transfer defensive lineman Amari Williams following a visit to campus.
Williams began his career at Boise State where he redshirted in 2020 and did not play in 2021. He then went the JUCO route, playing for Fullerton College. In 2022, Williams recorded 9 tackles and 2 sacks in 8 games played. The 6’2″, 285 pound defensive lineman has three years of eligibility remaining. He has picked up an offer from FIU (also took a visit there) and several FCS schools.
Williams can play at multiple positions on the defensive line, both on the interior of the line as well as at end. He will be able to help the Flames add depth to a defensive line that lost several pieces to graduation and the transfer portal since the conclusion of the 2022 season.
Liberty has added two defensive line transfers in the past couple of weeks in Grey Carroll (Georgia Tech) and Bryson Jennings (North Carolina).
