Liberty picked up a commitment on Friday afternoon from Preston Hodge. The 5’11”, 190 pound defensive back joins the Flames from Navarro College, and he has three seasons of eligibility remaining including a redshirt year available.
Hodge, who is expected to begin his time with Liberty this summer at corner, spent one season at Navarro College. He played in 10 games this past year there, recording 32 tackles, three tackles for loss, two interceptions, and three pass break ups. Hodge is originally from Waxahachie, Texas where he attended Waxahachie High School.
Hodge had reported offers from North Texas, Texas State, Central Michigan, and others. In recent weeks, he took official visits to Colorado State, UTEP, and North Texas.
Chris Megginson and Daijahn Anthony are expected to lead Liberty into the 2022 season at corner back under new position coach Darius Eubanks. Hodge will fight for playing time behind those two and alongside others like Amarian Williams, Kobe Singleton, and Dexter Ricks, Jr.
