On Friday, Liberty picked up a commitment from running back Josh Bryant. Bryant is a 5’10”, 192 pound back from Middletown, Ohio where he attends Middletown High School.

Bryant chose Liberty over offers from Akron, Ball State, Bowling Green, Buffalo, Eastern Michigan, Georgia State, Kent State, Marshall, Miami (OH), Toledo, and several FCS schools. He is rated a 2-star prospect by 247Sports. He becomes the 18th commitment in Liberty’s class of 2021.
As a sophomore in 2018, Bryant surpassed the 1,000 yard mark and went over 200 rushing yards in a single game on two occasions. In 2019, he rushed for 1,062 yards and 9 touchdowns, while amassing 1,738 all-purpose yards. As a junior, he was named OPSWA Division I Second Team All-Southwest District and First Team All-GMC for a second straight year. Through 7 games in 2020, he has rushed for 595 yards and 6 touchdowns.
Bryant will join a Liberty rushing attack that has already had four different players rush for over 100 yards in a single game through the team’s first five games of the 2020 season. The Flames also have two seniors at running back in Joshua Mack and Peytton Pickett, who could elect to come back for 2021 amid the NCAA’s ruling that the 2020 season will not count against eligibility. Liberty does have underclassmen Shedro Louis, Troy Henderson, and Frank Boyd at running back.
