A packed Williams Stadium this fall is inching closer to reality. Liberty has announced its plan to make all 25,000 seats in the stadium available for the 2021 football season. The Flames are preparing to join a growing list of colleges and professional teams across the country opening their stadiums back to full capacity.
During the COVID-altered 2020 football season, Liberty, like everyone else around the country, had limited attendance with the Flames only allowed to welcome in 1,000 fans to each game. Based on updated guidance from local and national authorities and current information available, Liberty intends to return to its traditional gameday environment for the 2021 campaign.
Liberty will open the 2021 season at home on Sept. 4 against Campbell. The Flames will host five more home games throughout the season: Old Dominion (Sept. 18), Middle Tennessee (Oct. 9), UMass (Oct. 30), Louisiana (Nov. 20), and Army (Nov. 27).
