The Liberty Flames are 11-4 overall and 3-1 in ASUN play following the team’s weekend sweep of Kennesaw State. The Flames are now in a three-way tie for first place atop the league standings alongside Jacksonville and Lipscomb, who are also 3-1 in conference play. The Flames are back in action this Friday and Saturday evening at Stetson, the Hatters are currently 1-1 in the ASUN.
Being in a first place tie and having the highest computer rankings, the Flames are now once again being projected to make the NCAA Tournament by various Bracketologists following a week absence when Liberty began conference play 1-1 with a split at Lipscomb while Jacksonville was 2-0.
The NCAA recently announced it will hold the entire 2-21 men’s basketball tournament in the state of Indiana, with the majority of the tournament’s 67 games taking place in Indianapolis. Selection Sunday is still currently scheduled for March 14 and plans remain to hold the Final Four on April 3 and 5. The exact date for the earlier rounds are still to be determined. March Madness will be hosted by Ball State, Butler, the Horizon League, Indiana, IUPUI, and Purdue, which are lending their facilities and staffs to assist with tournament operations. The Indiana Convention Center will be used as a practice facility with multiple courts set up inside the venue.
ESPN’s Joe Lunardi currently has the Flames as a 13-seed and facing Louisville in his most recent bracket with the winner to face the winner of 5-seed Ohio State and 12-seed Boise State.
