Liberty men’s basketball continues to be included in ESPN’s Joe Lunardi early Bracketology as he thinks the Flames will three-peat as ASUN champs in 2020-21 following the team’s early 4-2 start with two wins over Power Five opponents.
Lunardi updated his early March Madness bracket for 2021 this week and he continues to have Liberty in the field, as he did throughout the offseason. This week, he has the Flames as a 15-seed with Liberty facing the 2-seed Kansas in the first round with the winner facing the winner of 7-seed UCLA and 10-seed UConn.
Liberty’s next opponent, Missouri, who the Flames face Wednesday night, is currently one of the last handful of teams in the bracket, according to Lunardi, as an 11-seed. Last week, the Flames checked in as a 14-seed facing 3-seed Virginia in the first round. Prior to the start of the season and throughout the summer, Lunardi projected the Flames in the Tournament as a 16-seed.
