Liberty is picked as the 114th best team in the country out of 130 FBS teams according to Phil Steele’s Power Poll.
The Flames must replace a lot of talent in departing seniors, something Phil Steele puts a lot of value in, but the Flames continue to deepen the talent pool of the team. So, while young and fairly inexperienced, this team has more FBS talent and depth than last year’s squad. Liberty is ranked 112th, according to Phil Steele, in experience.
Here’s how the rest of Liberty’s currently scheduled 2020 opponents are ranked in the Phil Steele Power Poll:
18. Virginia Tech
75. Western Kentucky
92. FIU
128. Bowling Green
120. ULM
95. Syracuse
79. Southern Miss
125. UConn
NR. Western Carolina
50. NC State
130. UMass
Liberty’s schedule is the weakest in the country according to Phil Steele’s projection, the same spot the Flames held in 2019.
