Marshall had a season-high 4 three-pointers against Howard

The Flames used impressive shooting and dominating rebounding to move past Howard 77-59. With the win Liberty improves to 5-6 on the season and rebounds from their loss Saturday night at Austin Peay.

Liberty was led by the powerful inside/outside tandem of Antwan Burrus and Davon Marshall as each combined for 16 points. Burrus added 8 rebounds and 2 blocks in just 28 minutes played. His 2 blocks moved him into 2nd on Liberty’s all-time career blocked shots list with 113 as he passed Julius Nwosu. Marshall knocked down a season high 4 3-pointers. Tomasz Gielo added 11 points while Joel Vander Pol had a solid outing with 6 points and 8 rebounds.

The game was not as close as the final margin appeared as the Flames led by 15 at halftime and by as much as 29 in the 2nd half. The Bison closed the game on a 16-5 run for the final margin of 18.

The Flames shot 49% from the field and outrebounded Howard 40-25. Liberty also connected on 8 of their 18 3-point field goal attempts, and were 23/30 from the free throw line. Liberty held the Bison to 36.5% shooting from the field.

The Flames return to action Friday night as they hit the road to face Southern Conference opponent Furman.
