The preseason Associated Press Top 25 men’s basketball poll was released on Monday, and the Liberty Flames find themselves in the “Others Receiving Votes” category. Liberty received 2 votes which puts the Flames in a tie for 43rd among the 50 schools that received votes. Liberty is tied with Vermont, Alabama, Southern Cal, and Michigan.
The Flames received votes in the top 25 near the end of last season following the team’s ASUN Tournament Championship win over Lipscomb.
Liberty will face LSU in the non-conference portion of the schedule on December . The Tigers checked in at #22 in the preseason top 25.
The Flames are coming off the best season in school history, winning a program record 29 games, winning the first NCAA Tournament game in school history, and winning the regular season and tournament championship in the team’s first year in the ASUN.
Liberty opens the regular season with a three game home-stand beginning on November 8th against Radford. The Flames will also play host to Maryland Eastern Shore on November 10th and South Carolina State on November 12th to open the final season Liberty will play in the Vines Center.
