Another new position coach on the defensive side of the ball entering 2022 as Darius Eubanks takes over as Liberty’s defensive backs coach. The Flames return all of their top contributors from a season ago with the exception of Duron Lowe, and add in a few talented players.
As the Flames prepare to kick off another spring camp on March 4, here is a look at the corners:
CORNERS
Returners
Chris Megginson (Jr), Daijahn Anthony (R-Jr), Amarian Williams (R-Fr), Deon Biggins (R-So)
The Buzz: Megginson has quickly become one of the defensive leaders. He started 10 games in 2021, finishing with 21 tackles, 1 tackle for loss and six break ups. He is a steady force for the Flames at corner, while Daijahn Anthony came on strong after recovering from a meniscus injury in the preseason. Anthony ended up starting three games, finshing the year with 15 tackles, a tackle for loss, and an interception. He has the potential to be the team’s next shut down corner.
Amarian Williams got some limited action during his true freshman season in 2021, and he will likely see an increase in playing time this coming fall. Deon Biggins played in all 13 games in 2021, recording three tackles.
Newcomers
Kobe Singleton (So), Antwon Jackson (Fr), Dexter Ricks, Jr (Fr)
Singleton transfers to Liberty from Southern Utah. As a freshman in 2021, he recorded 22 tackles with three interceptions and six break ups. He also housed one of those interceptions for a touchdown in his first career collegiate game.
Jackson and Ricks are talented incoming freshmen from Georgia who each have the potential to crack into the rotation this year.
Gone
