As Liberty prepares to open spring practice in just a few weeks, the official roster has been updated.

Most notably, safety Ceneca Espinoza, Jr is no longer listed on the roster. Espinoza has one year of eligibility remaining and has seen playing time in 34 games for the Flames. In 2019, he played in 12 games while finishing 6th on the team with 44 tackles while also adding 2 interceptions.

Others no longer listed on the roster include Christian Launius, Vincent Mangogna, Sean Queen, and Henry Van Dellen. Launius and Mangogna were walk-ons and didn’t receive much playing time.

Queen was part of the 2018 signing class and the first prospect to commit to Liberty after the Flames made the announcement its football program was moving to the FBS level. He redshirted in 2018 and didn’t receive any playing time in 2019 as a wide receiver after suffering a leg injury in 2018.

Van Dellen had one season of eligibility remaining after he joined the program prior to the spring 2019. He transferred from North Dakota State.

All the new signees that were able to enroll early have been added to the roster – Gage Bassham, Will Buchanan, Anthony Butler, Chris Ferguson, Gaberiel Fuster, Trevor Hobbs, Durrell Johnson, Jerome Jolly, Jr, Bryce Mathews, Karsen Perkins, Louis Taylor III, and Juawan Treadwell.

There are also a couple of new names, walk-ons, added to the roster as well in QB Evan McGhee and WR Ed Ogle. McGhee is a 6’1″ quarterback from Charlotte Christian High School and Ogle is a 5’9″ wide receiver from Liberty Christian Academy in Lynchburg.
