PREVIEW

The Hornets are currently 2-6 on the season and have yet to defeat a Division I opponent. Behind first-year head coach Stan Waterman, Delaware State opened the season with an 80-41 win over Cairn before falling to non-Division I Salisbury, 91-78. Their other win came against Regent, 84-30. The Hornets have also lost to Rider (63-53), UNC Wilmington (67-63), LIU (99-65), Delaware (59-48), and Longwood (78-58).

Delaware State began their brief two-game road swing in Virginia on Sunday in Farmville as they are in Lynchburg Monday night before heading back home. The Hornets have struggled as a program, failing to post a winning record since the 2011-12 season.

They were picked to finish sixth in the eight team MEAC in the preseason poll, ahead of Maryland Eastern Shore who was picked to finish last. Liberty defeated UMES, 73-61, at Liberty Arena on Nov. 27. 6’1″ redshirt-senior guard Myles Carter was named to the preseason first-team all-MEAC team, and he is currently leading the team in scoring at 16.8 points per game.
