Liberty Men’s Basketball will replace Northwestern in the Hall of Fame Classic that will be held in Kansas City starting Nov. 28. The Flames will face South Carolina to open the tournament before playing either TCU or Tulsa on Nov. 29.
The Flames and Gamecocks are scheduled to tip-off at 4 p.m. Eastern and will be televised on ESPNNews. The following day, the losers from the first day’s action will square off at 1 p.m. Eastern on ESPN2 with the Championship Game scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Eastern, also on ESPN2.
This tournament will make for a very busy week for Liberty, as they are playing in the Space Coast Challenge, in Melbourne, Florida, to begin the season on Nov. 25 against Purdue and Nov. 26 against either Clemson or Mississippi State.
Liberty’s first 4 schedule games:
11/25 – Purdue
11/26 – Clemson/MissSt
1128 – South Car
11/29 – TCU/Tulsa— A Sea of Red (@ASeaofRed) November 20, 2020
These first four games for Liberty will all be against top 100 KenPom teams, the first time Liberty will have played at least four top 100 KenPom teams in the same season since 2016-17. Purdue comes in at No. 25, followed by Clemson at No. 40 and Mississippi State at No. 77. In the Hall of Fame Classic, South Carolina is currently ranked No. 61 by KenPom, while TCU is No. 53 and Tulsa is No. 90.
This will be a tough schedule to begin the season for the KenPom preseason No. 165 Liberty Flames, especially as Liberty is beginning its first season without Caleb Homesley, Scottie James, Georgie Pacheco-Ortiz, and Myo Baxter-Bell. The Flames are also scheduled to play No. 59 Missouri on Dec. 9.
