Conference USA released its 2025 conference schedule on Thursday, and, with it, Liberty’s complete 2025 schedule was also released.

With the addition of Delaware and Missouri State to the league beginning with the 2025 season, CUSA now has 12 members. The league will continue to play eight conference games each season, meaning everyone in the conference will miss three conference members during the regular season schedule in 2025. The Flames are not scheduled to play Western Kentucky, Middle Tennessee or Sam Houston this coming fall. Those three teams were a combined 14-10 in conference play this past season.

Coming off an 8-4 season under second year head coach Jamey Chadwell, the Flames will be looking to get back in the mix for the CUSA championship in 2025.

Liberty will open the season at home on August 30 against Maine. The Black Bears finished 2024 with a 5-7 overall record and 3-5 mark in CAA play. They lost to Oklahoma, 59-14, in their only game against an FBS team and also lost to future CUSA member Delaware, 44-21.

In week two, Liberty heads on the road to open Conference USA play, playing at defending champ Jacksonville State on Saturday, Sept. 6. The Gamecocks went 9-5 this past season, beating Western Kentucky in the CUSA Championship game before falling to Ohio in the Cure Bowl. Jax State will have a new look team in 2025 as Rich Rodriguez has left the Gamecocks to return as head coach at West Virginia. They have hired former Auburn co-defensive coordinator Charles Kelly to replace Rich Rod.

Liberty heads to Ohio in mid-September to conclude the home and home series with Bowling Green. Liberty defeated the Falcons, 34-24, on September 2, 2023, to open the Jamey Chadwell era. This past season, Bowling Green went 7-5 and 6-2 in the MAC, finishing tied for 3rd place in the league with Liberty’s bowl opponent, Buffalo. The Falcons went to their third straight bowl game under head coach Scot Loeffler in 2024.

Liberty and JMU will renew their rivalry for the first time at the FBS level in September at Williams Stadium in Lynchburg. The Flames and Dukes last met in the first round of the 2014 FCS Playoffs, with Liberty pulling the 26-21 upset. JMU owns the all-time series 12-6 though, with many of those contests coming with the two were FCS members. JMU went 9-4 this past season and 4-4 in the Sun Belt.

After a brief one-year hiatus, Liberty and Old Dominion will meet on the gridiron once again. The Flames and Monarchs have played four times previously since Liberty made the move to the FBS in 2018. The Flames have won each of those four meetings, including a 38-10 decision in November 2023. ODU went 5-7 this season and 4-4 in the Sun Belt.

The CUSA schedule will then transition to its midweek games for the month of October with Liberty only playing two in the midweek in 2025. The Flames will play at UTEP on Wednesday, Oct. 8 and then host New Mexico State on Tuesday, Oct. 14.

Following an 18-day break, the Flames take on CUSA and FBS newcomers in back-to-back weeks, hosting Delaware on Nov. 1 and then Missouri State on Nov. 8, concluding a three-game home stand.

Liberty will then hit the road for two straight, playing at FIU on Nov. 15 under first year head coach Willie Simmons. The next week, the Flames will play at Louisiana Tech on Nov. 22.

The Flames will conclude the regular season on Nov. 29 at home against Kennesaw State. The Owls went 2-10 in their first year in the FBS and CUSA, but knocked Liberty from the ranks of the unbeaten on Oct. 23, 2024 with a 27-24 win, their first win as an FBS program.

The Conference USA championship game will be contested at the home site of the No. 1 seed in the league on Friday, Dec. 5 and will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network.
