Liberty returns four starters from last year’s team, but trying to determine who that 5th and final starter Coach McKay will start the season with has been difficult. He could go to a bigger lineup than the Flames have used in the past with Myo Baxter-Bell starting alongside Scottie James or put Darius McGhee in the starting backcourt with Georgie Pacheco-Ortiz.
Shortly before tip-off against Radford for the season opener, Liberty’s starting lineup was revealed:
Point guard: Georgie Pacheco-Ortiz (senior 6-1, 185)
Guard: Darius McGhee (sophomore 5-9, 150)
Wing: Elijah Cuffee (junior 6-4, 185)
Wing: Caleb Homesley (r-senior 6-6, 205)
Center: Scottie James (r-senior 6-8, 235)
Ultimately, McKay elected to go with the sophomore McGhee along side the four returning starters.
