247Sports recently released their list of the top 100 impact freshmen for the 2023 college football season and Liberty’s TJ Bush was included on the list. Bush was one of only eight freshmen from the Group of Five included and the only one from Conference USA.
“The 6-foot-3, 250-pound Bush enrolled early at Liberty and impressed the new Flames staff,” 247Sports had to say of Bush. “Given Liberty’s need for impact defensive line play, Bush is going to have a chance to play a lot of snaps in 2023 if he continues to develop. It doesn’t hurt this projection that Bush was immensely productive as a high school senior in Virginia with 29 sacks. Expect Bush and summer enrollee Larry Jones to play a lot of snaps for Liberty this year.”
Bush was originally committed to Coastal Carolina under Jamey Chadwell and his staff before they took over at Liberty. The Alexandria, Virginia native visited Liberty just ahead of the December signing day and would flip to the Flames then. The 6’3″, 250 pound athlete is a three-star rated prospect who also had offers from Boston College, Charlotte, Marshall, Maryland, and Vanderbilt.
With the losses of Durrell Johnson and TreShaun Clark, true freshman TJ Bush had an opportunity to impress the coaching staff this past spring as an early enrollee and he did just that. Bush will not only fight for playing time, he also has a change to start at defensive end during his first season at Liberty.
“…Bush was immensely productive as a high school senior in Virginia with 29 snacks” Typo, sacks not snacks. Thanks for the article!
