One name on our original list of 12 names to watch out for during the basketball coaching search is Bobby Lutz. Well, his name is starting to heat up in connection with the Liberty job.
First, HoopDirt.com mentioned Lutz as being involved in the vacancy at Liberty. They also mentioned the possibility of Jason Allison being hired as the top assistant under Lutz. Now, ESPN’s Jeff Goodman is mentioning Lutz as being in the mix.
N.C. State assistant Bobby Lutz in the mix for the Liberty gig, source told ESPN. Can’t imagine anyone more qualified than him for that one.

Lutz is currently an assistant at NC State where he has been since 2011. He was Charlotte’s head coach from 1998-2010 where he compiled a record of 218-158 with 5 NCAA Tournament appearances. Lutz is currently making $228,000.
Larry Davis, University of Cincinnati assistant coach should be under consideration as well for the Flames job as he graduated from a Christian college, Asbury University , in Kentucky.
