Liberty redshirt-freshman guard Marten Maide will transfer from the program. The 6’5″ guard is originally from Estonia but played his high school ball at Carmel Christian School in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Maide helped lead Carmel Christian to the 2018 NCISAA 2A State title and a No. 43 national ranking. He has also competed for the U18 Estonia national team. After sitting out the 2019-20 season as he recovered from an injury and redshirted, Maide appeared in 7 games this season with 29 minutes played. He scored 12 points while making 5 of 9 field goals and 1 of 3 from three. He also recorded 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 steals, and 1 block. He scored a career high 7 points in 10 minutes played against Carver College on Dec. 16.
Following Maide’s departure from the program, Liberty has one scholarship available for next season. The Flames’ current roster makeup for the 2021-22 season at this point includes 12 scholarship players – Micaiah Abii, Drake Dobbs, Jonathan Jackson, Keegan McDowell, Darius McGhee, Blake Preston, Josh Price, Shiloh Robinson, Kyle Rode, Isiah Warfield, and incoming freshmen Brody Peebles and Joseph Venzant – and walk-on Tytist Dean.
Loved my time at Liberty, it is a special place with amazing people that I can call family forever. With that being said I have entered the transfer portal. https://t.co/mNHW7pudSo
